“The Only constant thing in this world is change”– I don’t know who said that famous phrase, but actually it is really true.

What does change have to do with Michael Jackson and Communication??A lot actually!hehe! First let me  discuss Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson was a cute black kid when he first started out his career with the great Jackson 5; singing and dancing alongside with his brothers. He was just so cute back then; doing ABC, I’ll be there and I want you back (my favorite jackson 5 songs). Then change occurred to him, going solo because of his rising career and that decision of CHANGE in his career made Jackson one of the greatest artist ever lived. His change, his evolution was really remarkable, I was watching his videos for the past 3 or 4 days and when I was browsing through all these videos I was just amazed at how he CHANGED, from his dance moves, to his singing style and even his physical appearance was really changing (his color from black to white, his nose, his eyes, his everything!). Although some changes may be not that good at all, Michael Jackson was a  perfect example of change being not really that good. His change from black to white and all other changes that he has done was or maybe the reason of the downfall of his career, from jacko to wacko. Change made him great but also change made him fall.

Communication is fast changing, it evolved really fast. Yesterday, in our 152 class we discussed the BIS model of the evolution of communication and it was great to see that change is also evident in communication and like the change in Michael Jackson, from Jackson 5 to going solo, the change in communication was really a good one. It brought communication to a different level that it made people think, it made companies think, that “hey communication is really important, why not invest on it!”. But like what happened to Michael Jackson, can change make communication fall?? I hope not. I still do hope and pray that it can evolve to a greater change that it can sustain its growth, that it can be the Great Michael Jackson forever and not the wacko jacko.

talagang kinonek si MJ sa communication evolution anoh? hahahaha go Mr. President!😉

MJ would be proud! haha. I like the MJ example: it’s very current and relevant. Indeed, who better exemplify “evolution” than MJ?

on your question: i don’t believe change will make communication fail, or fall. it’s how people make use of “change” that will make or break communication. take the Internet, for example. some people can use it to propagate new knowledge, connect people, etc. But some people can use it for their own selfish needs at the expense of others.

yes I hope MJ would be really proud!haha!….and yes it is still the people, “us” that will really make or break communication..and it is also “us” that can make the real change in our world!hehe! like what MJ said “if we want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change!”.hehe! thanks sir!

change is inevitable, i agree. life changes. communication does too. so we move on with it, as i say. padayon!🙂

  4. xalwynx says:

change itself is part of communication imo. human beings are social creatures, and as such, they have a need to communicate. even if you change the medium of communication, its still gonna be communication. though, i think communication MIGHT fall, but not in the sense that its gonna be dead. it might be harder to communicate someday, but communication will always be there so long as there are people, or aliens. whatever.🙂

great analogy btw, michael jackson and change.

tnx tnx!i just can’t help not to write about MJ, one of my inspirations in music!hehe! abd yes communication will always be there but I do hope that it will still be as powerful as it is now.

Communication is not a panacea or a cure-all drug. It should be taken in moderation and, sometimes, it should be prescribed by a “doctor”.

Wow, I just realized how communication can be so powerful. You see, we can even change the world!

    • ace acosta says:

yes we can really change the world alps!!and the best way to start it is by changing our own ways!like what michael jackson said.. “if you wanted to nake the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change!”..hehe!

Since you are also talking about Michael Jackson here, another song that can be related to change is Heal the World. We must heal and change the world. And I think the best tool towards the first step to a better world is to have an effective communication. With the advanced communication (brought by positive changes) that we have today, it would be better if we would use it to breach communication barriers across cultures.
