I am a fan of Paulo Coelho‘s work, he writes very simple and yet has deep meaning and thought behind the simple writing.

Now I just would like to share to you, some of my favorite quotations from the book “By the River Piedra I sat down and wept”, I didn’t just copied this from the internet,

I really took the effort to copy the lines from the book itself, because while reading it, every time I come across a beautiful line, I highlight it and

write it in my notes.

Enjoy!!

“The more we love, the closer we come to spiritual experience”

“The more we love, the closer we come to spiritual experience. Those who are truly enlightened, those whose souls are illuminated by love, have been able to overcome all of the inhibitions and preconceptions of their era. They have been able to sing, to laugh, and to pray out loud”

“True Love is an act of total surrender”

“To love is to be in communion with the other and to discover in that other the spark of God.”

“The path isn’t about pain; it’s about the glory of serving,”

“It existed before and will go on forever.”

“The closer we get to God through our faith, the simpler He becomes. And the simpler He becomes, the greater is His presence.”

“no matter what we do—everything can lead us to the experience of God’s love.”

“The apostles were fishermen, illiterate and ignorant. But they accepted the flame that fell from the heavens. They were not ashamed of their own ignorance; they had faith in the Holy Spirit. This gift is there for anyone who will accept it. One has only to believe, accept, and be willing to make mistakes.”

“Only a man who is happy can create happiness in others.”

“A divided person cannot face life in a dignified way.'”

“Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.”

“Joy is sometimes a blessing, but it is often a conquest. Our magic moment helps us to change and sends us off in search of our dreams. Yes, we are going to suffer, we will have difficult times, and we will experience many disappointments—but all of this is transitory; it leaves no permanent mark. And one day we will look back with pride andfaith at the journey we have taken.”

“Pitiful is the person who is afraid of taking risks. Perhaps this person will never be disappointed or disillusioned; perhaps she won’t suffer the way people do when they have a dream to follow. But when that person looks back—and at some point everyone looks back—she will hear her heart saying, “What have you done with the miracles that God planted in your days? What have you done with the talents God bestowed on you? You buried yourself in a cave because you were fearful of losing those talents. So this is your heritage: the certainty that you wasted your life”

“If we are not reborn—if we cannot learn to look at life with the innocence and the enthusiasm of childhood—it makes no sense to go on living”

“I’ve been in love before. It’s like a narcotic. At first it brings the euphoria of complete surrender. The next day, you want more. You’re not addicted yet, but you like the sensation, and you think you can still control things. You think about the person you love for two minutes, and forget them for three hours. “But then you get used to that person, and you begin to be completely dependent on them. Now you think about him for three hours and forget him for two minutes. If he’s not there, you feel like an addict who can’t get a fix. And just as addicts steal and humiliate themselves to get what they need, you’re willing to do anything for love.”

“The moment we begin to seek love, love begins to seek us. And to save us.”

“And happiness is something that multiplies when it is divided.”

“Love perseveres. It’s men who change.”
